New engine oils for Euro IV and Euro V diesel engines

ADDINOL Professional 1040 E9 and 1540 E9 are two innovative engine oils of the German expert for high-performance lubricants ADDINOL. The SHPD engine oils exceed the requirements of ACEA E9/E7 and API CJ-4 and have been developed especially for the application in turbo diesel engines exposed to high loads as used in heavy commercial vehicles and machinery in construction industry or agriculture.

The new engine oils meet the strict requirements of the Euro IV and the sensitive Euro V exhaust emission standard for the latest generation of diesel engine oils in connection with new exhaust treatment systems. In the last years, new emission standards for heavy commercial vehicles and mobile machinery in agriculture and construction industry came into effect step by step in Europe and the United States according to the demands of the Euro IV and Euro V emission standards. Since 2010 the Euro V standard has been valid for new heavy commercial vehicles, from 2011 it is binding for machines used in agriculture and construction industry as well.

Higher demands on engine oils

The significant reduction of nitrogen oxides and particles harmful to both health and environment means tightened demands on exhaust treatment systems and engine oils at the same time. The requirements of ACEA E9 sum up European and US-American engine tests according to API CJ-4 for the first time establishing a direct connection between ACEA (Association des Constructeurs Européens d’Automobiles) and API (American Petroleum Institute) based on equal requirements of test runs.

Engine oils according to ACEA E9 possess Mid SAPS (Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus, and Sulphur) characteristics differing from Low SAPS products in their content of sulphated ash, phosphorus and sulphur. The demands on the content of these substances are clearly stricter for Low SAPS oils in comparison to Mid SAPS products. Therefore, Mid SAPS engine oils must not be applied in engines requiring Low SAPS lubricants.

ADDINOL Professional 1040 E9 and 1540 E9 outperform the requirements of ACEA E9, they reduce exhaust and particle emissions caused by the lubricant and extend the lifetime of exhaust treatment (DPF, SCR) and exhaust gas return (EGR) systems. Even under extreme conditions they promise safe protection against corrosion and wear. In addition, they possess an outstanding thermal and ageing stability and ensure excellent engine cleanliness.
